Already Another Year Wiser

Happy Birthday to me!

Two years ago I joined Debbie Henderson, a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator from Maine's

Facebook Group called

Random Acts of Kindness Card Club

It has been such a wonderful experience in multiple ways:

1) You receive beautiful handmade birthday cards in your Birthday month.

2) I get to send out my handmade cards all over America monthly.

I am actually USING the cards I make!

3) You might make a new friend (which I did near my old hometown on Southern California.)

4) You get lots of great card ideas to CASE.

5) You help keep the USPS in business with lots of snail mail.

6) You love getting snail mail in your mailbox.

7) You are brightening someone else's day which makes you feel good!

Aren't those great reasons? I think so!

Here are the beautiful cards I received this month.

A final look at them all together!

I hope you consider joining Debbie's Facebook group at the link above to make many other lovely cardmaker's birthday's wonderful, as well as your own!

Have a lovely day!

Some Quick September Kit Alternatives

The September Paper Pumpkin Kit called Haunts and Harvests was very fun to put together! I used most of the supplies in making the treat favors I'll be using at my next Stamp Class.

I had to fussy cut a nose for my pumpkins from the extra black sticker paper that the eyes and mouth came off of.

I flipped over the punch-out leaf frames and used a blending brush to smoosh ink into an artsy result. Then I dived really deep into my hanging 12x12 Designer Series Paper files and came up with this fall paper from at least five years ago! It was fun to just see what spoke to me and what resulted. I hope you like these samples.

Paper Pumpkin Kits are Great for Family Craft Night

Are you a busy family that sometimes just needs a quiet night at home doing something different besides electronic devices?

Would you like your children to learn how to send birthday cards and write thank you notes? This is an idea that I'd be happy to help you with. Stampin' Up!s Paper Pumpkin Kits are a perfect solution to help you raise thoughtful caring children and have quality family time together.

I have been a Paper Pumpkin Subscriber from the beginning, but I did take a few breaks early on. But not anymore. Every month is better than the last! Here's a review of the kits we've had so far this year. They have been so amazing! The great part is you can use the contents to make the cards or crafts just as described with the included directions or you can be creative and make alternative designs that work just for you!

The Video above helps you see the types of things that come in the monthly kit. It's an example of the value you receive to help with family crafting.

The October Kit is called Peaceful Christmas and contains enough elements to create 10 Christmas cards—5 each of 2 designs—and coordinating envelopes. This all-inclusive kit includes printed card bases, die-cut paper pieces, embellishments, adhesive, and more!
October’s kit arrives in a cute collectible box covered with enchanting evergreen trees. Use this special, limited-edition box to store your holiday handicrafts, or transform it into a well-wrapped package for a present!
The kit’s contents pair perfectly with the Peaceful Place Suite Collection (item 156277). To continue your Christmas crafting, combine the kit’s components with the suite’s patterned paper, shimmery sequins, and more!
Card size: 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" (10.8 x 14 cm)
Envelope size: 4-1/2" x 5-3/4" (11.4 x 14.6 cm)
Coordinating colors: Basic Gray, Real Red, Shaded Spruce, silver foil
You get everything you need, all you provide are scissors and glue. It is such a value to make 10 cards for $22 plus tax (shipping is included in the price!) (That's less than $2.50 per card!)

Sign up now at this link so you won't miss out!

The deadline to sign up for the Peaceful Christmas kit is October 10th.

Here is the coordinating Peaceful Place Collection if you are interested.

I have a Facebook Group of my subscribers that you can join when you become a subscriber where I post alternative designs to inspire you.

I hope crafting with your family is something you'd like to try and I'd be happy to assist you along the way.

Happy Creating!

Lets Have Tea Time Together

"Love is a warm cup of tea," says the sentiment in the retired Tea Together stamp set. When I saw this layout by Danielle Peck, I knew I had to case it. Especially since it was a Z Fold fun fold card and it used the You're a Peach Designer Series Paper that is currently in the Annual Catalog.

I love having a cup of mint or orange spice tea when I need a little pick me up. Since we are on the last day of summer, it seems like a great way to say so long to the season until next year.

I don't know about you, but my retired stamp sets, go months without being used, but when I saw this idea, I knew I had to find my tea stuff and make this card.
It's so CUTE!

Of course, I was also reminded of Mrs. Potts and Chip from the Beauty and the Beast Disney animated movie. Did you think of that too?

The color theme of Calypso Coral, Pale Papaya, and Basic White plus the Designer Series Paper, just work so nicely together.
Did you know you could stamp directly on the Designer Series Paper? Isn't that a cool technique? I think it works perfectly for this card design.

On the panel behind the teapot, there is a layer of Pale Papaya and Basic White to write your personal message.  The envelope also has a decorated flap with a piece of the striped Designer Series Paper to make a finished looking set.

Products Used to Create this Z Fold Card can be purchased at my online store (link below):

Retired Tea Together Stamp Set  (could purchase on Ebay or Etsy maybe)
Retired Tea Time Dies (same note above)
Calypso Coral, Pale Papaya, and Basic White cardstock
You're a Peach Designer Series Paper
Double Oval Punch
Calypso Coral Ink
Champagne Rhinestones

Maybe you have a sweet friend you could share a cup of tea with today?

New Latching Angle Fun Fold Birthday Card

This week I'll be sharing the cards from my Stamp and Chat Class that was held this past weekend. We had a fun time even though there was a power outage! Luckily, my hubby has a large capacity generator and once he got that turned on, we were good to go!

I cased this Angle Fun Fold layout from V and A Creations, but I improved it by creating a "latch" mechanism to keep it closed much better!

Use a full sheet of 8-1/2" x 11" cardstock cut diagonally from the upper right corner to the lower-left corner. You'll get 2 cards this way.

I started with the Beautifully Penned Designer Series Paper from the Sale-a-Bration brochure and cut two pieces 4" x 5-1/4". Cut those diagonally from the upper left to the lower right. Again you'll have extras for the second card option. Then I trimmed 1/8" more from them on the portion that will become the outer side edge. That should help the triangles fit well.

Here's my latching idea. I punched two 1-3/8" circles and adhered them together. Put adhesive on only half of the circle and attached to the right side triangle flap only. Then you can add 3 or 4 dimensionals around it on the left side triangle flap as shown so they are not touching. Then attach your prepared two-layer circle sentiment with scallop circle backing.

Here's a peek at the inside.

Here are the products used in this card:

Melon Mambo cardstock
Beautifully Penned Designer Series Paper
Retired Layering Circles Dies
Melon Mambo Ink
Basic White cardstock
Retired Enamel Dots
Dimensionals

This fun fold will work for any occasion and any special person in your life. Give it a try!
Have a lovely day!

Yummy Gingerbread & Peppermint Gift Card Holder

Today wraps up my eight days of the Gingerbread and Peppermint Suite over the last two weeks here on my blog. I hope I've inspired you, and shown you a wide variety of projects you can make with this fabulous Suite.

Everyone needs a Holiday Gift Card Holder! GCH's have become one of the easiest ways to give a loved one who has everything, a special treat! But you still want to make an impact with your gift, so this great holder would do the trick!

The flap is made with the largest Seasonal Labels Dies scored at one end and attached to the backside of the Basic White before you adhere to it.

I discovered that the gift card flap really wouldn't hide the gift card when closed, so that's why I turned it on end. It hides nicely under the Seasonal Label shape.

The mini velcro fasteners that I used below, are years old and I don't remember where I purchased them. However, our dear friend Amazon has something similar here. I would recommend you cut those 3/8" circles in half or even in fourths, so they will hold, but not rip the cardstock or DSP.

Products Used to Produce this Gift Card Holder can be purchased here:

Cinnamon Cider cardstock
Basic White cardstock
Real Red cardstock
Gingerbread and Peppermint 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper (DSP)
Gingerbread Dies
Seasonal Labels Dies
Layering Oval Dies
Frosted Gingerbread Stamp Set
Real Red Ink
Multipurpose Liquid Glue
Rhinestone Basic Jewels
Dimensionals and Stampin' Seal adhesive
Tiny piece of mini velcro (see Amazon link above.)

Don't forget to cover the outer flap of your Basic White Envelope with a piece of matching DSP that's 2-3/8" x 6" and fussy cut off the excess.

------------------------------------------------

Thanks so much for stopping by this week. Next week I'll be sharing the six card designs from my Stamp and Chat classes I'll be hosting this weekend. Come back and take a peek.
