Just a Few Photos of Convention to start with

The 2013 25th Anniversary Stampin' Up! Convention at the Salt Palace in Salt Lake City, Utah was fantastic! I loved being a part of the 5,800 demonstrators who attended from all over the world. As always so much to learn, swaps to share, and things to see!

Just a small amount of demos going into General Session. Usually much more crowded.

General Session with just a few of the thousands.

This truck was the backdrop for our Guiness Book of World Record attempt at sending the most handstamped cards from one location. My card was counted.

Main Stage.

Organized Swapping going on.

Shelli Gardner, speaking at Awards Night.

Some really giant sized balloons left over from Awards Night.

Stop back again soon, more photos of product and card displays coming!

WOW Swap Card

Using the center step cutting design, turns the Sunflower stamp from ok to WOW! I used Crushed Curry and Early Espresso ink, on Very Vanilla cardstock. The base is Baked Brown Sugar cardstock. Accents are the Itty Bitty Butterfly punch with Rhinestones and the Chalk Talk stamp set "For You" on Very Vanilla (hand cut out) mounted on Early Espresso punched with the 1-3/8" circle punch finished off with 1/8" Early Espresso taffeta ribbon taped to the back for "tails."
Thanks for taking a look!

Another Convention Swap - Halloween Treat holder

Here's another preview of items from the Holiday Catalog that's coming out August 1st. I'm participating in a small swap of 10 Halloween treat items, so this is my swap. I used Dollar Store mini containers and filled them with candy corn. I lined the lid with DSP and then topped it off with the rosette and belly band to add the pizazz! Who wouldn't want to find this at their Halloween party?

The supplies are: Summer Starfruit and Brushed Silver cardstock, (new) Witches Brew DSP, (new) Tags 4 You stamp set and matching Label Bracket punch, black heat embossing powder, heat gun, rhinestones and a glue gun with silicone mat to put it all together.

The trick to making a lot of rosettes is to score an entire sheet of DSP at the quarter inch intervals, then cut the one inch strips that you need to fold and glue.  So simple. I also used a one inch circle punch with scraps of basic black to glue a base to my rosette on the back side, then flipped it over on the silicone pad to hot glue the prepared tag.  I learned something the hard way - only touch the edges of the tag as you are pressing it to the hot glue on the rosette, otherwise the embossing powder will come off on your fingers due to the heat of the glue gun.  Luckily I learned the first time!

Thanks for stopping by and taking a look! Have a great day!

Sherry Robinson's Swap at the Plaza Hotel

Here's my original design for Sherry's swap. It's my second year for participating in her swap. I like how she does it - you prepare 25 cards that she swaps for you and then you make another 24 kits so over a 4 hour period you get to make 24 different cards from the other participants. So I leave there tired but with 48 different and lovely swaps.

My card has two sneak peek items from the upcoming Holiday catalog - the silver ribbon and the Winter Frost DSP.
The rest of the supplies are: Pool Party, Island Indigo, Whisper White, and Brushed Silver cardstock, 4" White Doily, Perfect Polka Dot Embossing Folder, and then Stampin' Write Markers to color the "For the Birds" stamp set image in Pumpkin Pie, Pool Party, Island Indigo, and Silver marker.
I've never made a blue-toned Christmas card before, but I like it! Hope you do too!
