Beautiful Spring Sampler Class Coming

A group of my customers has requested making some seasonal samplers this year. So here is the spring one we will be making in early April.

This sampler incorporates over 60 different products in it! WOW! Some of the products are current and others retired, but for this one-of-a-kind masterpiece, it doesn't really matter. (My stamp studio is like a reference library of products for this project!)

It is my original design and took several days of working a bit, then coming back to it until I was happy with the final result.

The sampler always looks better in a frame!

Layout Sizes:

Left column of three squares: Basic White are 2-3/4" square, Highland Heather Layer are 2-7/8" square, and Crushed Curry layer are 3-1/8" square.

Top Middle Rectangle: Basic White is 3-1/2" x 4", Highland Heather Layer is 3-5/8" x 4-1/8" and Crushed Curry layer is 3-7/8" x 4-3/8".

Lower Middle Rectangle: Basic White is 3-1/2" x 5", Highland Heather Layer is 3-5/8" x 5-1/8", and Crushed Curry layer is 3-7/8" x 5-3/8".

Alcohol Ink Background Technique

The latest technique trend is the 91% Isopropyl Alcohol (can't be a less %) and Stampin' Blends on Vellum cardstock. Have you tried it? I hadn't until recently and I'm sharing my creations with you today. One thing about this technique is you will never have the same result twice. Each card will be unique!

Here's how I did the process:

1. Color spots, blotches, dots with whatever color's of Stampin' Blends you think will look nice together on the vellum cardstock.

2. I filled a retired aqua painter in my collection with the alcohol, but Stampin' Up! currently sells Water Painters (set of 3 for $12). I would use the pointy medium tip. Squeeze some alcohol so the brush tip is kinda drippy.

3. Tap the aqua painter/water painter on your index finger and let the alcohol drops fall where they may on the vellum cardstock. Try not to have the drips start pooling up too much. The larger the pool of alcohol the larger the "bleeding/running" of the Blends ink on the vellum cardstock. (You can see the variety of sizes of my dots.)

4. Keep dripping alcohol until you are pleased with the look. If you want to try blowing the puddles around with a straw that may help with color coverage.

5. Take your heat tool and on the lowest setting, heat up the vellum to help speed the alcohol to dry/evaporate. The vellum cardstock will start to curl up. Don't panic yet!

Here's where you have some choices to make! What color cardstock are you going to mount your artwork on? My top two photos above the vellum is mounted to Basic White. The bottom photo it is mounted to Gold Foil. Interesting change in look don't you think?

The trick to getting your vellum to lie flat again is to use the Adhesive sheets. Cut your adhesive sheet so it will cover the vellum completely. I love the fact that the adhesive doesn't show a bit!

Now you have more decisions to make about how you want to make your card. My cards are simple to accent the color, but they are still gorgeous in my opinion. Let me know what you think in the comments!

Snowflake Splendor Gnome

Here's my last gnome card of 3 I'll be sharing with you this week. But don't let that stop you from thinking of other ways to use this set. 

I've already seen these darling gnomes transformed into Halloween gnomes, or other holidays just by tweaking their hats or changing the color scheme and Designer Series Papers you might use with them.  That is one of the benefits of being a Stampin' Up! customer - you have so many choices of ways to make cards that are unique to your style and your needs. I'm happy to help you to learn how to use Stampin' Up! products. They are high quality and well made.

If you know someone who LOVES snowflakes AND gnomes then this is card you should make for them. It will be mantle worthy!

Let's Create This Card!

1. Cut Pacific Point cardstock 5-1/2" x 8-1/2", score at 4-1/4"

2. Cut Whisper White cardstock 3-3/4" x 5".

3. Cut Snowflake Splendor Designer Series Paper 3-5/8" x 4-7/8". Adhere this layer to the Whisper White and then to the card base.

4. With a 3-1/4" x 4-1/4" piece of Pacific Point cardstock, run it through your die cutting machine with the second to the largest scalloped rectangle die.

5. Cut Snowflake Splendor Designer Series Paper 2-1/2" x 3-5/8". Adhere this layer to the Pacific Point scalloped rectangle layer, and then raise with Dimensionals onto the card base as shown.

6. Cut out the Balmy Blue Glimmer paper with the 3" x 4" scalloped oval die (approximate size).

7. Cut out a piece of Whisper White cardstock 2-1/2" x 3-1/2" and stamp the gnome image with the Memento Black ink.

8. Color the gnome image with the Stampin' Blends markers: 

Dark Balmy Blue, Light Gray Granite, Dark Night of Navy, Light Mint Macaron, Light Petal Pink.

Then run image through your die cutting machine with a plain oval die that is slightly smaller than your scalloped oval shape.

9. Affix gnome layer and glimmer paper together using Stampin' Seal adhesive. Raise those layers off of previous layers with Dimensionals.  Place Snowflake Sequins around gnome as desired. Finish off with bow tied from Snowflake Splendor ribbon. It's a little stiff but will soften up a bit as you work with it. Affix with glue dots.  Pat yourself on the back! Great job!

Noel to Ms. Gnome

Say Hello to Noel, my cute Christmasy Gnome for today! Here's card 2 out of 3 I'll be sharing with you this week. She is another original design of mine.  

She's the perfect solution when you are needing a one of a kind card to give to a loved one.

Let's Create This Card!

1. Cut Shaded Spruce cardstock 5-1/2" x 8-1/2", score at 4-1/4"

2. With the Wrapped in Plaid 6x6 Designer Series Paper Stack, choose 2 plaids that go well together. Cut one piece 1" x 5-1/4" and cut a second plaid 3" x 5-1/4". Adhere to Shaded Spruce cardbase. Made sure sides touch when glueing. Then cut a 3/4" x 5-1/4" piece of Shaded Spruce cardstock and affix on the seam of the two plaids as shown.

3. With your die cut machine and the Layering Circles Dies - cut out a scalloped circle from Gold Foil and a plain circle from Cherry Cobbler. Affix those layers together. and affix to card front as shown.

4. With a 2" x 2-1/2" piece of Gold Foil affix a piece of the Foam Adhesive Sheet to the back and run the "NOEL" letters on the Gold Foil through your die cutting machine. Wait on assembly.

5. With another piece of the Wrapped in Plaid 6x6 Designer Series Paper Stack choose one of the polka dot patterns and punch out a tree with the Pine Tree punch. Wait on assembly.

6. With a 1-1/2" x 3-1/2" piece of Whisper White, stamp the girl gnome with the Memento Black ink. Then color with the Stampin' Blends as shown using:

Light Cherry Cobbler, Dark Just Jade, Dark So Saffron, Dark Soft Suede, Light Petal Pink, and Light Flirty Flamingo. Then fussy cut out the gnome image.

7. Assembly time: Affix the tree punch to the Cherry Cobbler circle, then the gnome image next raised on Mini Dimensionals, followed by peeling and sticking the N O E L vertically. Finish off with the gold metallic pearls. All Done! Good for YOU!
