Try the Triple Fold Fun Fold

Do you love fun folds like I do? I hope so! Today's share shows the Triple Fold which I cased the measurements from Tina Zink.

What I love about this fold is you can show off your Designer Series Papers (DSP) so nicely. Then you can accent the Belly Band however you like.

During my Zoom team meeting recently, we made two of these cards. It is so fun to see what paper each person uses. We had a nice variety!

Start with a card base cut 5-1/2" x 11"

Score on the long side at 4-1/4", 7", 9-3/4" 

(when you crease your folds you'll need to flip the card around to match my photo image)

Cut a Belly Band 1" x 11"

Cut one piece each of your choice of Designer Series Paper:

1" x 5-1/4"

2-1/2" x 5-1/4"

4" x 5-1/4"

You'll also need Basic White or Very Vanilla cardstock depending on what DSP you have chosen.

One piece - cut 2-1/2" x 5-1/4"

One piece - cut 3/4" x 4"

You can choose if you want the liner piece to go over your DSP on the back section OR adhere it to the section to the left of the back section.

Decide how you want your belly band to look, stamp your greeting and fold it around the card and secure with strong adhesive in the back making sure the band ends line up nicely.

This Fun Fold is still super cute using the recently retired Penguin Playmates Designer Series Paper. You know how sometimes there are partial images on the edges of the DSP? I thought having one penguin peeking out from behind another would be a good use of a partial image. What do you think?

The Result of our Zoom Class for World Cardmaking Day

Today is World Cardmaking Day! I offered a free Zoom class for two hours this morning. A couple of nice ladies joined me. We had fun making two cards each of the following three styles of Christmas cards. 

If you didn't know World Cardmaking Day originally started to give stampers a head start on their handmade Christmas cards. 

I used retired products - Holly Jolly Layers Stamp Set, Layering Square Dies, and Snowflake Splendor Designer Series Paper. 

Cardstock colors - Pacific Point and Mint Macaron

You get to decide whatever sentiment stamp set and die or punch to use with your cards.

Card 1 - Cut the 4" x 5-1/4" Designer Series Paper (DSP) at 2" on the 5-1/4" side and flip one piece over. With another scrap of matching DSP cut 1/2" x 4" to cover the paper seam.

Card 2 - Mini Center Easel Fun Fold cased layout from Dana Hancock

On 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" card base, score at 4-1/4", fold on the score line.

Then mark 1-1/2" from the left edge and repeat on the right edge as shown in the photo.

Using your paper trimmer, slice on the 1-1/2" marks just up to the fold line on the left and right sides.

Then adhere the left and right sections to the card back, so they won't open.

For the center easel, score the middle section at 2-1/8" from the bottom edge.

Left and Right DSP pieces 1-1/4" x 4"

Center Easel - 2 pieces 2-1/4" x 1-7/8"

Basic White for inside is 2-1/2" x 4"

Use an embellishment for your easel stopper.

Card 2 - Front View

Card 3 - Triangle Gate Fold Card layout cased from LeeAnn Greff

Single-layer Card base 4-1/4" x 5-1/2"

Designer Series Paper 5-1/4" x 12", scored at 2", 4", 8", 10"

Mark 2-1/4" from top outside corners, draw a line to connect with the 4" and 8" score lines. Trim that section off, but save the pieces.

With those saved pieces measure a right triangle with 2" sides, trim off excess DSP and toss. Adhere the right triangle as shown in the photo above.

Basic White inner layer - 3/1/2" x 4-3/4"

Hello October! Let's Decorate!

Do you like to do theme decorating? Wanna see my cute Halloween decorating? I thought I'd share a few pictures today to help show some of my other loves in addition to cardmaking.

The photo below shows my shoe bench next to the front door. I try to keep it decorated with fun things. I finally finished that cute small pumpkin quilt so it made a great starting point. I love the artwork of Meg Hawkey at Crabapple Hill Studio. She designs wonderful patterns that I like to embroider. Since I love sunflowers this design was a must-do. The darling scarecrow was a fall bazaar purchase long ago. It has held up well.

Did you know Tiered Trays are all the rage nowadays?  I had this three-tier lightweight gray wood stand that I have used at a few craft shows. It doesn't really do what I want it to at the shows, so I thought this use would work much better. I think it looks great sitting on my buffet that is also filled with my cards for sale racks, catalogs, and order forms. 

I pulled out my Halloween decor tub from my front coat closet (there's not a lot of room for coats really, it's mainly full of totes with a variety of holiday decor in them LOL) and started pulling out my small items to arrange on the trays.

I have candles, figurines, bottles, stitched felt mini pillows, mini-quilts, plastic mini pumpkins, some framed Halloween stamped images, a small 5x7 stitchery, a small wooden sign, and more. I did buy the beads with the pumpkin at the end (good old Walmart!)

Some of the items on the trays are more than forty years old, others I have picked up along the way. I even got out my knitting needles and knitted up that mini pumpkin in the front center of the bottom tray. It was a fun and easy project to do while watching television in the evening. Did you know nice people share their patterns online? I was happy to find one that I could do.

My plan is to keep this tiered tray decor idea going year-round with a new theme each month. I'd love to know your thoughts in the comments below. Like it? Would you do something similar?
