911 Remembrance Day

Hard to believe it has been 20 years today since the terrorist attack on America. I will never forget that day. I didn't lose anyone I loved that day, but I feel for all those families who did. Grief is something you never get over, you just focus less on it as time passes.

Popular Curvy Blue Jingle Bell Card

The card I'm sharing today was the most popular original card of mine in 2020. Since I'm revisiting some great ideas for Christmas in July, I knew I had to share this again with you!

This card features the Curvy Christmas stamp set and Curvy Dies.  I just LOVE how this Christmas card turned out! It was very easy to make. The addition of the Sounds of the Seasons Dies, Silver and Navy Foil, and Feels Like Frost 6x6 Designer Series Paper (DSP) Stack all comes together in one stunning card you too can create!

All Images (c) 2020 Stampin' Up!

HOT TIP #1: Use a 1-1/2" x 6" piece of silver foil, so after you use the Curvy Die you are able to line up the silver foil on the edge of the Feels Like Frost DSP, and trim off the excess once you have adhered the foil to the DSP.

HOT TIP#2: Be sure to use a sticky lint tape roller brush to pick up all the little cut out dots on your workspace and die cut machine.

A close up to admire the beautiful bell die with the Metallic Mesh Ribbon Bow. That ribbon is so soft and supple. I folded the ribbon in half to thread through the top loop of the bell die. Tying it is a dream!

HOT TIP #3: After you die cut the bell, carefully flip it over keeping the holly leaves intact and scotch tape over the back of the bell to hold them in place.

Here's a peek of the inside of the card using a smaller bell die and a 1/2" strip of the Feels Like Frost DSP.  This is a great way to finish off a card with a little extra pizzazz!

Maybe this inspiration will be enough to encourage you to make you own Christmas cards this year! They are fun to do and gives you such a sense of accomplishment!

Have a lovely day!

Revisit of Believe Eclipse Card

Since I'm celebrating Christmas in July and maybe you are new to reading my blog, I thought I would bring back one of my most popular designs from 2017. My inspiration was a wooden sign I saw while having lunch at Kneaders and attending the OnStage experience in Salt Lake City in Nov. 2017.

The Eclipse Technique is really super easy. You decide what word you want to cut out. You can use any letter dies you have, but for this project I used the Large Letter Dies.

Images (c) 2017 Stampin' Up!

Some of the card supplies are retired, but if you have these items in your stash - go for it!

Products
Basic Black Cardstock
Red Foil - retired
Basic White Cardstock
Large Letter Dies - retired
Santa Hat punch - retired
White and Red Glimmer Paper - retired
Small Snowflake die of your choice
Silver Foil
Petite Curly Label Punch - retired
Die Cutting Machine
Tombow Liquid Multipurpose glue
Dimensionals
Glue Dots
Paper Trimmer

 Directions:

Basic Black Cardstock is cut full width 8.5" x 8", with a score line at 4", so the card will fit in a No. 10 business size envelope (USA). (Or you can make your own envelope if you are so inclined!) The belt is 3/8" wide by the length of your 3 letters (you may have to trim to fit.)

A few hints for you - 1) Draw a light pencil line about 5/8" down from the top of the white paper to help you position the letter dies at the precise same height (use a white eraser to erase line before starting to place letters in frame you have created), 2) You may want to use some post it notes or washi tape to hold the letter dies in place as you cut, 3) "Believe" will barely fit in the width of the paper, so be sure to layout the dies, so you can get the feel for how you need to space them when sending through your die cutting machine, 4) Use wax paper to put between the snowflake die and the silver foil paper to help it easily remove from the die when using the die brush, 5) Use Tombow Multipurpose liquid glue to assemble the hat prior to attaching with glue dots to the "B", 6) The 3 piece Belt is glued together prior to placing on the letters, 7) Attach belt with glue dots on the 3 "EVE" letters by laying the letters in the frame before attaching with the foam strips. . Then you can trim the belt to length if needed before placing the foam strips on the back of the letters.

I hope you'll give this technique a try. There are so many words you can use to make cards or home decor pieces for a variety of holidays, you won't be able to stop once you start!

Happy Creating!

Petal Passion Suite Card Idea

This pretty card was so easy to create. I just love the Petal Passion Suite in the new 2018 Occasions Catalog. The floral image was easy to color with the new Blends pens. Always do the light color first, then add accents with the dark pen. Use the Thick  Whisper White cardstock which allows for easy flow of the color and no bleeding if you are careful by coloring with very light pressure. Just for fun I tore the edge of the Designer Series Paper for a little added texture.
