Special Blog Hop Highlighting a Fun Fold Card

Welcome! A group of Silver level Stampin' Up! Demonstrators from across the globe have combined their incredible talents to share some Fun Folds for today's blog hop! We also are working on building our businesses by making connections with each other. It's a great group of very creative ladies. You probably know that by now since you're about half-way through the hop when you've arrived here.

However you have arrived here, either from Tricia's Stamping Creations or from one of my social media links, I'm very glad you are here to enjoy my creation! Don't forget to leave a comment, I'd love to read your thoughts about today's fun fold card.

Vertical Center Step Card

Color Theme - Misty Moonlight, Pale Papaya, Pear Pizzazz and Basic White.

Start with the Hand-Penned Petals Stamp Set and matching Penned Flower Dies plus the Hand Penned Designer Series Paper. I make my own storage for my dies in case you were wondering.

Sneak Peek of the card inside and how the center step fun fold works.

Let's Begin Creating this Card:

Step 1: Use the template above to cut and score your 4-1/4" x 11" piece of Misty Moonlight cardstock.

Step 2: Cut your Hand-Penned Designer Series Paper as follows:

Center Piece - 2-1/8" x 4-1/2" and glue that down first.

Bottom Horizontal Piece - 7/8" x 4-1/8" glue that down next.

Two Vertical Pieces both cut 7/8" x 4-1/4" and glue those down.

Basic White Cardstock for inside card - 4" x 4-1/4" and glue down.

Step 3: With a 3/4" x 4-1/2" piece of Misty Moonlight, die cut the scallop edge treatment. Hint! Line up the straight edge with the straight edge of the 4-1/2" side. Run through die cutting machine. Affix as shown in photo.

Step 4: Using either circle punches or circle dies, select 1-1/4" and 1-3/8" circles. Stamp the get well greeting on a scrap of Basic White Cardstock. Then cut your Basic White circle, followed by a scrap of Misty Moonlight and cut that circle. Affix those two circles together. Use mini-dimensionals to affix to card front as shown.

Step 5: Cut a 12" piece of Pale Papaya 3/8" Open Weave Ribbon and wrap around center section and tie a bow as shown near the greeting.

Step 6: Making the Focal Point Floral image (Don't give up - you're almost finished!)

• You will need small pieces of Pale Papaya, Pear Pizzazz and Basic White cardstock, plus Cardstock Vellum.  
• Using the outline largest floral die cut the Pale Papaya piece. 
• With scraps of Pear Pizzazz you will cut the leaf portions again with the same die. 
• Die cut the floral image in Basic White. 
• Using the Basic White die cut, you will fit and trim the Pear Pizzazz leaf pieces into position then glue them down.  Let dry. 
• Using a Fine Tip Glue Pen, glue your Basic White floral frame to a larger piece of Vellum Cardstock. Let glue dry. When dry, carefully fussy cut around the flower edges and expose the leaves so the Pear Pizzazz will show through when you glue the layers together next. 
• Using the Fine Tip Glue Pen again glue the white and vellum layer to the papaya and pear layer. Weight with a clear stamp block to dry.

Step 7: When flower focal point is all dry. Put several mini-dimensionals on the back and attach to the center of the card as shown in the photo. Embellish with Champagne Rhinestones to complete the card.

Step 8: Cut a 2-3/8" x 6" matching piece of the Hand Penned Designer Series Paper for your envelope flap. Glue down and trim with paper snips.

Sweet as a Peach Card

Continuing on with my focus on the You're a Peach Suite this week, I love this card layout! I cased it from Rose Ward at stampersdelight.com

The artist who designed the You're a Peach Designer Series Paper at Stampin' Up! sure knows how to make the colors Pop! I love the combination of Balmy Blue, Pear Pizzazz, Pale Papaya and Calypso Coral with the touch of Basic White in the background. So Pretty!

You should give this card a try! Here's what you need to know.

Products and Dimensions:

Balmy Blue Cardstock card base - 5-1/2" x 8-1/2", scored at 4-1/4"

Basic White layer with additional inner card layer 4" x 5-1/4"

You're a Peach Designer Series Paper 3-3/4" x 5"

Basic White punched with 2-1/2" Circle Punch

3-1/4" piece of Pale Papaya cardstock to stamp two peaches in Mango Melody ink

Using a Blending Brush touch up the peaches with Calypso Coral ink

Basic White piece 1-1/2" x 3" to stamp two leaves in Pear Pizzazz ink

With the Peach Dies, cut out both peaches and leaves

Attach leaves to peach and affix one directly to the circle and raise the other up with dimensionals.

Add three champagne rhinestones

Place finished focal point on card with dimensionals.

Make Your Own Designer Series Paper Four Card Set

I have two sets of four cards to share with you today. The idea to make your own Designer Series Paper has been around for a while I believe, but I hadn't tried it. It is really fun and easy to do. You should give it a try.

Start with a stamp set that has a lot of similar images like the Forever Fern Stamp set does. 

Prepare 4 Basic White card bases 5-1/2" x 8-1/2", scored at 4-1/4"

Select the ink colors you want to try. I used:

Crumb Cake for the mini dots

Garden Green

Pretty Peacock

Pear Pizzazz

Just Jade

Rich Razzleberry

Gorgeous Grape

Decide on what color cardstock you want to layer with. Cut four pieces 4" x 5-1/4".

Cut one piece of Basic White 7-1/2" x 10-1/2" and divide into fourths with a light pencil line intersecting the middle. That pencil line will end up being your cutting line following the stamping.

So you start stamping all the leaves images, each in a different color. It will look like a cross on your Basic White cardstock. Finish with the dot stamp to fill in some of the space.

Cut the sheet into fourths and start assembling your cards. You can choose to make them all vertical or all horizontal like the second set of photos I've included.

I used a 1-3/4" and 2" circle punch and my choice of greetings.  The vertical set I stamped in a matching ink. The horizontal set I stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.  Assemble your circle layers and attach to card front with dimensionals.

Finish off with any embellishments you have that match your color scheme.

Of course this card set isn't complete without matching envelope flaps. This four card set would make a wonderful gift for a friend, or neighborly hostess gift.

Timeless Tulips in Spring

Tulips are a part of Spring, that's for sure. Where I live in Washington State, we have an area called Mount Vernon, that has several large tulip farms. Tourists flock there each April to view the pretty blooms. It is quite spectacular! Google it and see for yourself!

This card was inspired by Nancy Novak, but I changed it up a bit.

This card design has so many possibilities - Birthday, Mother's Day, Hello, Thinking of You, Get Well and what else can you think of?

Cutting Dimensions in inches:

Petal Pink Card base - 5-1/2 x 8-1/2, scored at 4-1/4

Fine Art Floral Designer Series Paper - 2 x 5-1/4

First Basic White Layer - 4 x 5-1/4 and another for inner card layer

Petal Pink piece before die cut - 3-1/4 x 4-5/8

Stamped on Basic White Layer before die cut - 3 x 4-1/8

Hello tag - 3/8 x 4

Basic White Strip for the 3 tulips - 1-1/2 by 8-1/2

Helpful Construction Hints:

1. Die Cut the Basic White prior to stamping the stems and leaves.

2. Tie ribbon in a knot first, then tie the bow. Easier to handle. 

3. Stamp the tulips on the narrow strip. Punch one out, tear or cut off remaining frame and continue to second tulip and so on. This is a more efficient way than wasting the white cardstock by punching leaves you won't need.

4. After making and tying the Hello tag, do secure it down with a mini dimensional to the card front.

Please Note:

There were a few retired products used in this card, but you can definitely substitute what you like.  Retired items include: Rococo Rose Ink pad for the tulips, Striped Ribbon, Word Window Punch for the Hello tag, and 1/8" hole punch.

Don't forget to decorate your envelope and your card liner. Gives it a classy look!

Valentine's Week of Cards #5

Of all the cards I've shared this week, I think this one is my favorite! Partially because I haven't used the Wreath Builder Dies much and I just like how sweet the color combination turned out. I'm a sucker for something shiny like foil! The Wreath Builder Dies can be used for many occasions! What a wonderful card you can create with the Wreath Builder Dies any time of the year.

Last Minute Hot Cider or Cocoa Gifts

This last minute gift idea can go in the gift bag you made from yesterday's blog post to give to neighbors or to have on hand just in case a quick gift is needed. These hot cider and hot cocoa wrappers make for a lovely gift presentation. You could even add a stamped layer inside the cardstock behind the drink package so you have a card too. A double gift! What could be better!

Retired Dashing Along Designer Series Paper above on Cherry Cobbler cardstock.

Retired Santa's Workshop Designer Series Paper on either Garden Green or Poppy Parade cardstock.

Trimming the Town Designer Series Paper from the August-Dec. 2020 Mini Catalog is on Misty Moonlight or Pear Pizzazz cardstock.

Materials Needed to cover one drink package:

• 4" x 11" cardstock, scored at 4-1/2" and 9", plus 2"x2" scrap for 1-3/4" circle tag
• Designer Series Paper to Match  - If you cut a 3-3/4" x 12" piece first, you can get 2 sets of paper for two drink packages.  One set is 1-3/4" x 3-3/4" and 3-3/4" x 4-1/4"
• 1-3/4" circle punch for colored cardstock tag
• 1-1/2" circle punch for Whisper White tag out of a 2" x 2" scrap piece
• Warm Hugs stamp set for greeting and matching ink
• Red Foil and small heart punch
• Adhesive such as Stampin' Seal or multipurpose glue for the Designer Series Paper and tag layers
• Mini Dimensionals for heart and regular Dimensionals for tag
• Closure - what I used is currently not available, but in case it comes back on the market it was Tombow's Fastener Tabs (ultra thin - elongated oval shape that I cut into much smaller pieces. But if you can't find those the next best is Velcro Brand - Thin Clear Fasteners, 56 count, 3/8" circles that I would at least cut in half, if not quarters. A little goes a long ways with velcro.
