Here's the other Halloween card we made over the weekend in my Stamp & Chat classes. This card was so fun because we used the "Give it a Whirl" Dies. It took me a little figuring it out, but I think I've got it!
You will have a lot of variety with these dies!
Products Used to Create this Card:
Pumpkin Pie cardstock card base
Basic Gray cardstock for mid-layer and scalloped circle
Retired Magic of the Night Designer Series Paper (DSP) for front of card
Give it a Whirl Dies
Use a piece of the Designer Series Paper White Firm Backing Paper Packaging for the wheel
Cute Halloween Designer Series Paper for the selected images that are die-cut out
Retired Black mini brads and two thin metal spacers so the wheel will turn easily (one space may need to be scotch-taped in place so it won't show when the wheel is turned.
Harvest & Haunts Paper Pumpkin stamp set for greeting on a scrap
of Basic White using Pumpkin Pie Ink
Banner Year stamp set for the inside of card - I used Happy Haunting and Boo stamps on the inside
Very retired Halloween Night enamel dots embellishments
HOT TIP #1
The Give It a Whirl Dies that you will need for this card:
This large rectangular die is shown with the cutting side up.
(The smaller pieces I couldn't remove from the photo easily.) Notice the crossbar with the tiny bump in the middle of the die that will be where you connect this circular die (shown below,) to create the window where the images will pass by when you turn the wheel.
This circular die will need to be rotated 180 degrees so the window shape is above the crossbar on the rectangular die above. It will actually slip onto the "hole" bump so you can position it well before you die cut the front DSP.
Use this three-section die to cut the piece of the Designer Series Paper White Firm Backing Paper Packaging to create the wheel. (The triangular wheel sections do not get cut out.)
Use the circular die again to die cut out your chosen images from the Cute Halloween DSP
Use the Scalloped Circle Die to cut the Basic Gray cardstock that will frame your opening.
Use the small banner die for your greeting that you have stamped on Basic White with Pumpkin Pie ink.
HOT TIP # 2:
Here's the assembly order of the card layers:
A small brad goes through the tiny hole that was die cut with the Give it a Whirl dies on the front Magic of the Night DSP
On the reverse side add a spacer and tape down if necessary.
Add the thick wheel
Place the other spacer and open the brad tips to secure flat.
Next, you will adhere the three circular die-cut DSP images through the opening of the die-cut circle one at a time, being careful not to glue anything to the DSP layer, just to the wheel. I used skeleton, pumpkin, and ghost images. Your three images need to be spacely evenly around the wheel in one-third increments. Check that the wheel will turn freely.
Then add dimensionals on the back edges of the DSP and near the wheel, but not to obstruct the wheel's movement.
Peel the covers from the dimensionals and secure to the Basic Gray Layer.
Then secure that "sandwich" to the Pumpkin Pie card base front.
Adhere your Scalloped Circle to the front of the window on the card front. You will have a little bump from the brad head but don't let that bother you.
Finish up with the Basic White stamped tag and adhere it to a scrap of Pumpkin Pie cardstock, then fussy cut about 1/8'" away from the white tag all the way around. Adhere both layers together and use mini dimensionals to raise off of the card front.
Finish with embellishments.
