Happy Haunting Card

Isn't this the cutest Halloween card ever? So cheery for a child or fun-loving adult. This card is one of five I'll be offering at my next In-Home (with Covid Safety precautions in place, of course!) Card Class on October 17 and 18.

This card has a fun closure technique with the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch. You also get to create your own Designer Series Paper (DSP) with the fun stamps from the Banner Year Stamp set in your choice of Halloween ink colors and arrangement. Go crazy with the stamps!

I cased most of the design from Lisa Curcio, but added my own touch with the Boo! stamp along the right border edge. The ribbon shown is retired but I have put a current ribbon in the shopping list below for you.

Let's Create This Card!

1. Cut Basic Black cardstock 5-1/2" x 8-1/2", score at 3-1/2".

2. CLOSURE: After Basic Black is folded on the score line, mark 1" up from the lower right corner of the front and back with a pencil tick mark. Open the card base flat, insert the front section fully into the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch, aligning the pencil tick mark with the outer side edge of the punch. Punch to create scalloped tab. Repeat process with back section of card base, making sure you align the 1" pencil tick mark exactly the same way, so the two tabs will be level with each other. With your paper trimmer, using the cutting blade, carefully remove excess cardstock from both edges to leave only the tab showing. Then with the scoring blade on the trimmer, carefully score the back layer tab, so it will fold over to create the closure effect.

3. Cut Pumpkin Pie cardstock 4" x 5-1/4" and adhere as shown.

4. Cut Whisper White cardstock 3-3/4" x 5". Stamp Boo! along the edge with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. Adhere to Pumpkin Pie layer.

5, MAKE YOUR OWN DSP: Cut Whisper White 2-3/8" x 5-1/4", then proceed to stamp in the following order: (Refer to photo)
  • Stamp greeting "Happy Haunting" first with Memento Black ink
  • Pumpkin Bodies with Pumpkin Pie ink
  • Pumpkin  Stems with Garden Green ink
  • Bats and Pumpkin Faces with Memento Black ink
  • Cobwebs with Smokey Slate ink

6. Adhere finished DSP layer to card front. Thread ribbon through scalloped tabs and tie bow. All done!
