Pop Up Front Step Card with April's Paper Pumpkin Kit

Here's the last card I made to share with you from the April Paper Pumpkin Kit "Change is Beautiful."  I was inspired by a similar card by Tami White, but I changed it up with slightly different measurements.

I love the Pop Up Front Step Card because it fits in an envelope so well, when folded flat.

Front view above.

Cut this piece from one of the provided card bases 4" x 5-1/4" and glue to Bermuda Bay base.
On the back, space to write your message.

Use these cutting and scoring diagrams for your Bermuda Bay and Melon Mambo card base pieces.

The Assembly Process:
1. Use two strips of Tear and Tape to make the standing Bermuda Bay base. My recommendation is to fold the base flat like it is going in an envelope so you can see where the Tear and Tape will end up. When you remove the protective tape portion on the Tear and Tape, flip the card base over so the Tear and Tape portion is laying flat and you can press the back of the card down on top of the Tear and Tape and the score lines will all turn out perfectly!

2. Upper Back Portion of Base
Cut Basic Black Cardstock 3" x 4"
Cut a piece from the envelope shown 2-7/8" x 3-7/8"
Glue layers together, then glue on base as shown in photo.

3. Lower Front Portion of Base
Cut Basic Black Cardstock 2" x 4"
Cut a piece from the envelope shown 1-7/8" x 3-7/8"
Glue layers together, then glue on lower front of base as shown in photo.

4. Now take the Melon Mambo front panel piece and attach the two layers first.
Cut Basic Black Cardstock 2-5/8" x 3-5/8""
Cut a leafy piece from the kit  shown 2-1/2" x 3-1/2"

5. Add the Tear and Tape as shown in the cutting/scoring diagram above but you ALSO need two more Tear and Tape pieces that will go on the back side of the Melon Mambo for securing to the lower front panel. My recommendation for this assembly is to secure the lower portion of the Melon Mambo piece to the lower panel so you can get it centered and up just a bit from the base as shown in the photo.

6. Then remove the Tear and Tape in the upper front section and sitting the open step card on the table gently press the top section in place with the goal of the card closing and laying flat.

7. Add dimensionals behind the caterpillar and butterfly. Close the card flat so you can position the butterfly without it hanging outside of the card's edges. Place the caterpillar as shown. Add some of the included embellishments to the printed flowers.

If you aren't already a Paper Pumpkin Subscriber, I recommend you consider it by reading my blog section here. I'd love to have you as a subscriber!

I'll be making some other Pop Up Front Step Cards this week, so be sure to come back for more.

Gorgeous April Change is Beautiful Paper Pumpkin Kit

Wahoo! My April Paper Pumpkin Kit is done! The Change is Beautiful kit has a gorgeous color palette, but the subject matter wasn't quite to my liking, but I powered through and am very happy with my results. I was inspired by several other Demonstrators who shared their creations in the Facebook group - Paper Pumpkin Fan Club.

I did use other greetings and leftover pieces from other previous Paper Pumpkin kits to make these creations. I did not make any cards according to the directions.

I was inspired by the Stampin' Butterfly for the trio of cards on the left using the Good Feelings stamp set. I used Bermuda Bay and Melon Mambo ink on a card base of Bermuda Bay or Crushed Curry.

The Stampin' Butterfly also had a similar card for the night sky ones on the right side, but for she had a blue moon and blue stars and I thought it was a no brainer to mount the night sky on Crushed Curry to remind me of a summery harvest moon concept and help it to POP!

The Stampin' Butterfly also inspired the trio of floral cards on the right, but I changed them into Happy Birthday cards. I tried to use the light Melon Mambo Stampin' Blends marker on the middle card but wasn't crazy with my result so stopped before doing the other cards.

On the right side, the top card is my original design, the next two cased an idea from Rachel Tessman, and the bottom card was inspired by the Stampin' Butterfly.

Better photo of the top right card and its inner layer.

The two right middle cards opened up.

(True Confession time - With the cocoon card above, I had stamped the black butterfly where the Crushed Curry cardstock is, but when I closed the card, it SHOWED! Ugh! Thus the piece of Crushed Curry to cover the mistake and another butterfly stamped in a better position.)

The lower right card has the same inner layer as show in the top right card.

I cased one other amazing Demonstrator - Vy Tran (Crafting Daily Dose) for this incredible Waterfall Technique Card. I have never made this kind of card before, but I finally felt brave enough to try. I am happy with the result.

The last panel shown below is different because I had already used all the separate flower punch outs on another card design above. Luckily I hadn't used the large butterfly punch outs, so one went here!

Vy's You Tube video and the dimensions on her website were wonderful to follow.

I am saving one more Paper Pumpkin card to share with you on Monday, so be sure to visit again to see the masterpiece!

Have a lovely day!

My Blog Top Twelve Cards from the 2021-2022 Annual Catalog

Today is the last day that the 2021-22 Annual Catalog is active, so I thought it might be fun to revisit some of my favorite cards made in the last year. I will admit some of the cards also came from the July to December 2021 Mini Catalog and the January to June 2022 Mini Catalog, but they fall within this time frame so I am letting them count too.

The link to each blog post about the cards are below each photo.

Thanks for taking a walk down memory lane with me. I'd love to know in the comments which card or project is your favorite of this collection.
