Using New Masking Paper from Stampin' Up!

Since I am still crushing on the Hues of Happiness Designer Series Paper and all the floral images I fussy cut out in my recliner that I wanted to use so...

Over the weekend I decided to try Stampin' Up!s new Masking Paper. It worked with helping me to select an area on my card front that I wanted to stay white, but I wanted to use the blending brush and Soft Sea foam ink on the upper and lower portions of the Basic White layer.

The Masking Paper did a great job giving me the "edge" I wanted.
However, I must have pressed the masking paper down to much because it peeled off a top layer of the basic white paper as I removed it. Luckily the flowers I used covered up the "roughed up" layer.

Additional Products used on above card:
Retired - Holiday Rhinestone Jewels
Retired - Noble Peacock Rhinestone Jewels
Brushed Brass Butterflies 158136 $10

Taking what I learned from the first card up top, I didn't peel off all the backing layer of the masking paper with this next card when I prepared the masking piece I needed. I just tore off a little bit of the backing paper near the edges so the middle of the area wouldn't be stuck down. Again I used the blending brush with the Soft Sea Foam to create the background for this second card.

Unfortunately, even with the narrower edge stuck down to the Basic White, when removing the masking paper, it still "roughed up" the "edge"  where the masking paper was stuck down. Again, I was relieved my flowers were going to cover up the roughness.

Before I call Demonstrator Support to inquire that I might have received a defective product I am going to experiment with it a bit more.

Products used in creating this Card are listed below.

Both cards have this image stamped inside.

Springy Kite Delight Friendship Card

Did you ever fly a kite as a child? Weren't those carefree days wonderful?

Running full speed ahead and holding the bottom of your kite to help the wind grab it and lift it higher and higher? Then that feeling of success and pride when your kite started to lift off and take flight into the sky, swaying back and forth, with the tail waggling along?

All at the same time in your hand, you felt the tug of the kite string as you moved your arm to gauge the line tautness and make the decision if you needed to let out more string or not to help your kite soar?

Oh, those were good memories of my childhood. I loved flying a kite in my yard, or at the beach on vacations, both were wonderful! Just me and my kite!

Today I'm sharing with you a design of mine using a Z fun fold to help accentuate the feeling of the kite really flying. The Kite Delight stamp set is so perfect for this.  This stamp set is in the January-June 2022 Mini Catalog and available to order at my online store.

Below is the full inside view. As I look at it now I should have added a 1-7/8" x 5.25" strip of Basic White so there would be a place to write a note inside this card.

Below shows you some of the supplies, but especially the Kite Delight stamp set. Look at all those cool kites you can choose from!

Products used and how to make this card:

Bermuda Bay Cardstock - cut 5.5" x 8.5", scored at 2-1/8" and 4.25"

Retired Sunshine & Rainbows Designer Series Paper from the Jan.-Feb. 2022 Sale-a-Bration brochure
Two pieces - 1) 1-7/8" x 5.25" and 2) 4" x 5.25"
Fussy cut out one colorful rainbow.

Basic White Cardstock pieces for the clouds and kite image (and the inside panel as I realized above.)

Stamp one piece of Basic White with the greeting in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink, then punch out with the Cloud Punch.

Punch two more clouds with the Cloud Punch from Basic White cardstock, then place them in the Retired Swirls and Curls Embossing Folder and run through your Cut and Emboss Machine.

Kite Delight stamp set - Hint - stamp two kites on Basic White cardstock - one in Bermuda Bay ink and one in Melon Mambo ink. Fussy cut out the Melon Mambo pieces and adhere to the full Bermuda Bay kite as shown in the photo.

With a piece of the Sunshine & Rainbows Designer Series Paper stamp the kite tail in Melon Mambo ink and carefully fussy cut-out.

Adhesives: Mini Dimensionals and Regular Dimensionals, Stampin' Seal,

Tools: Paper Trimmer and Paper Snips

As you build your card, savor happy memories of kite flying you may have done.
