March Club Cards

Here are the cards we made at this month's Stamping Club.  Enjoy looking at the collection!

My friend and fellow SU Manager, Pam Stern, shared this card design with me using the Have You Herd? stamp set. Don't you just love this old fashioned Etch-a-Sketch? I sure do!  So easy too. Just stamp your herd image on Smokey Slate cardstock using the Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. Then layer it with a piece of Window Sheet and attach with Glue Dots while rounding the corners inside. The pretend knobs are 1" circle punch in Whisper White, 1/2" circle punch in Smokey Slate, and 3/8" circle punch in Basic Black.  I rounded the corners with the Envelope Punch Board. You can even stamp balloons along the side edge of the card. A fun children's birthday card.

I had been having a hankering to do a baby card and Wendy Weixler's design was just the ticket.  The two cards use the Baby's First Framelits to cut out the onesie, the outfit is made from the Lullaby Designer Series Paper (same sheet just flipped over), either Crisp Cantalope or Pistachio Pudding cardstock, plus the Large Polka Dot embossing folder on Whisper White.  The Thick Baker's Twine is either Pistachio Pudding or Melon Mambo.  The boy's tie is Pool Party Cardstock, along with the ink for the sentiment. The girl's heart is Melon Mambo Cardstock using the Mini Heart punch. The girl's sentiment comes from Petite Pairs stamp set. The other punches used were the mini banner, small oval, and a trimmed version of the label punch. Finish off with a little rhinestone for bling!

These cards were inspired from the SU Leadership event in Florida at the end of January. I watched via online streaming and saw these cute designs. I had to give them a bit more color by mounting the watercolor paper on the Old Olive or Marina Mist color layer before attaching to the 3.5 x 5 note card. The stamp set is the Cheerful Critters set and you can have their signs say just about anything. The fun part is using a piece of the Adventure Bound DSP as the "fence." Punch out a Marina Mist star, then wrap with Whisper White Baker's Twine and you have a very easy and fast card for any occasion. The rabbit and chick were colored with Old Olive and Night of Navy Blendabilities.  Easy and Quick for any occasion!

Cindy Schuster is the creative designer for this card's layout, but I changed it up a bit. The stamp set For Peep's Sake is just so, so stinkin' cute! I stamped the chicks in Crushed Curry on the Whisper White tag, then added hand-drawn grass in Wild Wasabi, wrapped some retired holiday Washi Tape around the edge then cut a 1/2" strip out of Daffodil Delight with ends trimmed into a V. Next, stamped the verse in either Rose Red or Blackberry Bliss on Whisper White, then punched it out with the Scallop Oval punch. Using the flower punch from the Itty Bitty Accent Punch Pack the four petal flower was punched from either Rose Red or Blackberry Bliss cardstock with a pearl in the center was mounted to the oval tag. I used the Soft Sky Soft Twine for the clever tying technique using a 1/8' hole punch. The card bases were either Rose Red or Soft Sky. The Painted Blooms DSP was mounted on a piece of Whisper White so the twine wouldn't bend the DSP. The chick's eyes were colored with a fine black pen and the beak was colored with Pumpkin Pie. Just the cheeriest Easter card ever!

February Card Designs to Love!

Direct Case from Lynn Starzl

The photopolymer stamp set called Snuggles and Smooches is so cute! I love the swirls! Simple card using Real Red, Whisper White and some retired scraps of a Black and White Designer Series Paper. Black Memento Tuxedo Ink and Real Red ink were used. Finished off with a Real Red heart punched and a little bling added with the Rhinestone Jewels. Don't forget to use the Piercing Pad for a cushion for the clear stamps, it really helps to get a great image. Thanks Lynn for the great design!

Color Scheme Inspired by Carol Lowenstein

I love this Lumberjack! What a hunk! Using Lost Lagoon, Chocolate Chip and Whisper White cardstock you can make this cute card. Stamped the images from the Wood You Be Mine set with Chocolate Chip ink, colored with the Mocha and Blush Skin Tone Blendabilities, Lost Lagoon  and Smokey Slate Stampin' Write Markers. A second layer of beard was colored, fussy cut out and raised with dimensionals. Used the Word Bubble framelits for the verse, then traced the outside edge of the framelit and fussy cut the Chocolate Chip cardstock to frame the greeting. The background was stamped with the retired Woodgrain stamp in Chocolate Chip ink. I used an old pair of deckle edge scissors to cut around the frame behind the lumberjack. You could even add some heart stamps to show he's really in love!

My Original Design

Starting with Melon Mambo cardstock and Back to Black Designer Series Paper you can make the  base fast, with the 5/8" White Organza ribbon wrapping around the card and will be fastened underneath the framelit layers. The stamp set Seasonally Scattered is now retired but was new in the 2014 Holiday Catalog. I heat embossed the image with Melon Mambo embossing powder, then cut it out with the Deco Labels Collection framelits using the Big Shot. The larger framelit in Melon Mambo was cut first with the framelit, then dry embossed using the Spring Flowers embossing folder. Bling finishes it off with two Rhinestone Jewels. Classic Cool!

This darling Purse Card I just couldn't resist trying. I had to special order the 1/2" black D rings from Amazon and they came all the way from China, but they make the card! This is a great card to use up your Designer Series Paper (DSP) that is retired. I used a Crumb Cake card base then adhered the DSP of my choice making sure I paid attention to any directionality of the DSP. Next I used the Top Note Die on the Big Shot to cut the top of the purse in cardstock of your choice. I scored it in half lengthwise, then used an exacto knife to cut slits on the fold where I wanted the small strips of paper that hold the D ring to come through the slits to the inner-underside of the top note paper. Use strong adhesive like Fast Fuse to attach. Using matching cardstock I scotch-taped two of my circle framelits together to be able to cut the circular handle on the Big Shot with the magnetic platform. Once cut, fold the circle in half and cut through only the top layer halfway between the two folds. That will be the way to thread your paper handle through the D rings. Use adhesive to attach the folded circle together to make the purse handle. Next, I used the 1" scallop circle punch and a small stamp punched with the mini heart punch as my "logo" for the purse. But you can come up with whatever you like.

Now the last couple steps. I eyeballed a diagonal cut by hand through the folded card from the inner card fold to the outer lower corner starting at about 5/8" in from the outer edge on the fold. Flip card over horizontally and repeat. Then using your Envelope Punch Board corner rounder feature, round the bottom edges of the purse. Double check that your diagonal sides will fit inside of the folded top note before doing a final gluing with Fast Fuse. Retrim if any DSP is peeking out. You will need a square envelop for this card, but luckily the purse handle does fold back down quite nicely.

January Cards for Class

Here are the card designs that we made at my January Club Class.

I was inspired by a card I saw on Pinterest, but unfortunately I didn't write the artist's name down. If it's you, please let me know. Melon Mambo cardstock base, layered with Daffodil Delight dry embossed with the Lovely Lace embossing folder on the Big Shot. The horizontal stripes strip comes from Sweet Taffy Designer Series Paper. A retired Tempting Turquoise button threaded with Strawberry Slush Thick Baker's Twine attached with glue dots. The images come from the Flower Patch set and the Something to Say set stamped in Black Stazon, Melon Mambo, Tempting Turquoise, and Garden Green ink using the two-step stamping technique. A cheery card for a friend!

This is my original design. I started with a Wild Wasabi cardstock base with a layer of Blackberry Bliss cardstock, then the Printed Blooms Designer Series Paper is dry embossed with the Large Polka Dot embossing folder on the Big Shot. Blackberry Bliss 3/8" satin ribbon is wrapped around the upper left corner and attached with scotch tape, then the DSP and Blackberry Bliss layers are raised with Dimensionals on top of the Wild Wasabi base. The tag is made from the You Brighten My Day Sale-a-Bration set stamped in Blackberry Bliss ink and punched out with the Note Tag Punch. Using a scrap of Daffodil Delight I punched the butterfly with the Bitty Butterfly punch and accented it with the Rhinestone Jewels. Simple but beautiful!

This card was inspired by Karen Barber. It uses the stamp set Bloom with Hope on Very Vanilla and Basic Black cardstock. Using the Memento Tuxedo Black Inkpad, I colored the flowers with the new Blendabilities pens in Cherry Cobbler, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, and Old Olive. I used the Stampin' Chalk Marker and Signo Uniball White pen for the white flowers. The front is finished off with Brights Candy Dots. Coloring Fun for sure!!

This is my original design for a cute Valentines Card.  Starting with the Perfectly You (retired Hostess set) stamped in Black Stazon Ink, it was punched out with the 2-1/4" circle punch. Red Glimmer Paper was punched out with the 2-1/2" circle punch. Those were mounted with Dimensionals on top of two banners made from Back to Black Designer Series Paper (DSP) and Polka Dot Parade DSP. This was mounted on Whisper White cardstock on top of a Real Red cardstock base. In the upper right corner two more normal hole punches from the glimmer paper were attached by glue dots. Lots of Love to send!

December Card Class - Half Dome Ornament

I was inspired and purchased ornaments, stamps, and dies sold by an online retailer - www.papertreyink.com, but I thought a half-dome ornament will be just as cute filled with Stampin' Up! stamps, so I tried it!

You can also purchase 80 mm clear plastic ornaments from www.factorydirectcraft.com and the cool part is since you are only using half of the ornament your money goes twice as far! 

You use Shimmery White and Pool Party cardstock with Black Stazon Ink and Real Red ink, plus you will be coloring with Hello Honey, Pumpkin Pie, Crumb Cake and Real Red Stampin' Write markers. The two stamp sets are White Christmas photopolymer and Good Greetings.

You will cut two Pool Party scallop circles from the papertreyink dies using the Magnetic Platform on the Big Shot. Then using a 3" circle die on the Big Shot cut two Shimmery White circles. Stamp the tree portion on the first white circle, then stamp it again with fresh ink on the second circle, then add the cute snowman on the second circle. The bird can be stamped on a tree branch of the first circle. The mini star is stamped on a scrap and cut out by hand with paper snips then colored with the Hello Honey marker. Then you will carefully fussy-cut the snowman and snow mound from the second circle. Stamp "joy" in Real Red onto the full circle. Use a glue dot to affix the star to the top of the tree. Color in the snowman, bird, and tree trunks with the markers. Layer the two white pieces with dimensionals making sure they fit inside of the dome. Add dimensionals to the back of the tree layer and attach the first Pool Party scallop circle making sure there is an adequate and equal edge all around the dome. Before gluing the dome to the paper, add 1 tablespoon of "snow" inside the dome. Make sure you keep the open side of the dome facing UP or the snow will spill.  Using Tombow Liquid Multipurpose Glue carefully run a narrow bead of glue around the edge of the plastic dome and carefully sit the set of 3 layers onto the glue. Let dry for several hours. Once dry, you can scotch tape about 3 pennies (for weight) to the lower half of the pool party paper that's attached to the dome, then squeeze in dimensionals (or parts of them) to make a secure seal with the second piece of pool party.  Use Cherry Cobbler Baker's Twine to make a hanger. Don't forget to sign and date your creation! Done and so, so cute!

December Card Class - Gift Box Tower

I'd like to give credit to whomever posted their version of this tower, but for the life of me I can't find the idea on the internet again. If it's yours, please let me know.

I used 3 of the 3x3x2.5" kraft boxes from the Annual Catalog to create this fun gift idea. I stamped them all over with the snowflakes from the Endless Wishes set in White Craft Ink. You have to wave the box in the air a bit before you go to the opposite side of the box to give the ink a chance to dry a bit. The alphabet die set I used is a retired set, but you can use whatever alphabet you might have. I cut the letters in Cherry Cobbler cardstock. Using the SU 2-3/8" scallop circle punch I punched 3 Whisper White scalloped circles. Then using Brushed Silver cardstock I punched 3 2-1/4" circles from an EK Brand circle punch. The little mini banner flags were punched with a retired SU punch, but you can easily cut your own by hand. I used Fast Fuse adhesive for the circle and banner pieces, and then Tombow Liquid Multipurpose Glue to affix the letter to the silver circle. Let that dry a bit. After adhering the badge to the box, I added one rhinestone to each badge. In order for the boxes to stay together you definitely need a stretchy rubber band that will hide under the 1 yard of Cherry Cobbler 1" sheer linen ribbon tied into a pretty bow.

I see gift cards, socks, candy and so many other ideas going into these cute boxes and they will be reusable for a few years too!
