February 8-9, 2014 Stamp Club Cards

Thanks for visiting to take a look at the cards we made this month in Stamp Club. I was inspired by others with these designs, they are a mash-up of many good ideas.

Simple layout using retired products from last year using More Amour Designer Series paper. Easy colors Real Red, Basic Black, Very Vanilla. I hand colored the hearts in the stamp and added a bit of bling with the red glimmer paper heart in the lower corner.

I hadn't tried the Embedded Embossing technique before but I love it. Pun intended! Color scheme is Whisper White, Raspberry Ripple, Strawberry Slush, and Pink Pirouette. Use the Square Lattice Textured Embossing folder in the Big Shot for the effect.  Punch a variety of hearts. I used my 3 heart punch for the variety. The hint with this technique is to use the Two Way Glue or the Glue Stick, not the snail adhesive. Allow ample time for the glue to dry before sending it through the Big Shot. However, if some glue oozes out, the rubber adhesive remover tool works great!

I had seen this idea online from a variety of demonstrators using the Envelope Punch Board but I had to try it for myself. I wanted the finished envelope to fit inside 3.5 x 5 inch notecard envelopes and then I used part of the notecard for the inner Whisper White piece. Again I used retired Designer Series paper and matching cardstock for the inner layer. The DSP paper size is 6.5 inches square with the paper starting at 3.75 inch mark on the punch board. The new Petite Petals stamp set works so nicely for a little pop when you open the card.  One of my customers commented that this size is perfect for giving gift cards. I agree with her.

This card is a compilation of several others cards I seen shared online. Three flower are raised up on Dimensionals on top of stamped images. I used the new Petite Petals set plus matching punch and stamped the flowers in Tangerine Tango, Coastal Cabana, and Crumb Cake on Whisper White. The "Hi" flag is from the Sale-A-Bration set called Banner Blast. The sentiment is hand colored from See Ya Later, also a Sale-A-Bration set. For those of you who might not know what Sale-A-Bration is...Stampin' Up! offers a 6 week window each new year where you can earn extra free product with a $50 qualifying order which goes until March 31 this year. The Washi Tape set also brings in the color scheme with hand cut banner tips. The two ribbon tabs are just folded in half and scotch taped behind on the Whisper White. The Tangerine Tango ribbon is an old one I'd had around for a while, but the white is still available as the Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon. I finished off the flowers with Candy Dots.

So I hope you've enjoyed being inspired. Have fun Stamping!

January Stamp Club Card Designs

The holidays sure have thrown me off from my blogging, but here's the card designs we made at this month's stamp club.

This card is CASEd from Julie Davison, but I loved the simplicity of it. The only thing I added was running the edge of the oval framelit in the gold ink to match the washi tape.  Yippee Skippy stamp set brought us the verse.

This Happy Birthday card's layout is mine, but the inspiration for the Hexagon Star is from Lyssa Griffin Zwolanek from Song of my Heart blog. Color Scheme is Raspberry Ripple, Birthday Basics DSP, Basic Black, Very Vanilla. The rest is Banner Greetings Stamp set, Raspberry Ripple ink, Hexagon Punch, Candy Dots, Big Shot, and Scallops Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.

This card is a CASE from It's a Stamp Thing by Vicki Burdick. I've admired this card layout for a while and just decided to go for it. The Pleasant Poppies background stamp looks so nice on the Modern Medley DSP when stamped with Black Stazon. Color Scheme is Crumb Cake, retired colors Pretty in Pink and Regal Rose. I love how the fussy cut flowers "pop" from the card with dimensional and glue dots after coloring them with the ink and blender pens. Add the scallop border punch, large pearls, and the two ribbon colors; and the result is a lovely card to give.

This design is all mine!  Color scheme is Very Vanilla, Soft Suede, Gold Foil and some Summer Starfruit retired DSP, plus the Cajun Craze extra-long tag. Happy Day stamp set, Sunflower background stamp, Gold Embossing Powder, Versamark ink, Heat Gun, Deco Labels framelits, Ticket punch, and the Gold wrapped Baker's Twine literally tie this card together!

Thanks for stopping by to take a look! Happy Stamping!

Joyful Christmas Easel Card

After much time looking at Pinterest with what other creative people were posting using this stamp set, I designed this card with layout inspiration from SU Demo, Sharon Burkert.  I'd also been wanting to try heat embossing on the vellum cardstock and I was very pleased with those results. It's not hard at all. I added the color by sponge dauber on both the front and back sides of the paper, then fussy cut the poinsettia (x2) and leaf (x2). Use dimensionals to give height to the layers as you are building the card.

Making the easel card wasn't hard. You start with a piece of Real Red cardstock cut at 4.25" x 11" then score at 5.5", then on one half you cut two 1" strips to the score line from the two outside edges. Those 1" strips will be glued back down to the card base. The last score line you'll need is for the middle easel section scored across at 2.75."  Then cut your Whisper White cardstock at 2.25" x 5.25" and glue in place. The two polka dot pieces are 0.75" x 5.25" and glued down.

The oval poinsettia centerpiece is assembled then glued to the lower half of the center strip allowing for the scored line to fold creating the stand-up easel. The Decorative Label punch greeting is the "magic" that allows the easel to stand when propped against its edge which has been lifted with Dimensionals. I tried a new idea with the gold foil paper that I punched then layered behind the greeting - cut an X which gives you 4 pieces to glue with just a touch of gold showing behind the Whisper White. That idea saves paper and reduces thickness.

Festive Flurry Circle Thinlits Card

After much "researching" online around Pinterest  I designed this card for my Fancy Card Class that's coming up in December. I cut the brushed silver cardstock in half at 5.5" x 8.5" but then I trimmed the 5.5" height down just a 'smidge' so it would slide inside the Circle Card Thinlit Die and it would allow me to 'weave' the paper to lay on top of the metal die to create the additional flap on the right side of the card. The finished card slided into a white envelope that has had Brushed Silver paper cut with the Envelope Liner Framelit  Die and inserted for a lined envelope look. So elegant! Check out the supply list below and remember you can always order through my online store!

Winter Banner Idea

Stampin' Up! has designed the Christmas Banner Simply Created accessory kit (132697 $9.95) so I had to make a "Winter" Banner with it using the Build a Banner Simply Created Kit (133507 $19.95). It is super easy to color the banners using a sponge dauber and less messy than the spritzer method Stampin' Up! tells you to use.
A friend also shared with me how you can stack the banner for storage by rotating one flag on top of the next to keep them all lying flat. I thought that was genius!
If you haven't tried one of the banner kits in the Holiday Catalog I'd recommend it before they are gone at the end of December!
