Abundant Beauty Decorative Masks - Pattern 1 - Masculine Birthday Card

Have you purchased products with the intention of using them, then they sit on your shelf and you never get around to using them? Well that has been me with previous stencils I've purchased from Stampin' Up! But this time I decided, "not this time" so over the next few days you'll be seeing each mask used in a card design. Feel free to CASE any or all!

Technique - Blending Brushes with Classic Ink Pad

Here's how you do this technique:

Cut to size the cardstock layer you want the mask to go on. Use a very small piece of adhesive (like tape runner or double sided tape) to stick the cardstock to your grid paper. Be sure to use the lines of your grid paper to square the paper up. Next lay the mask on top of the cardstock and use some small bits of scotch tape or washi tape to hold the mask in place.

Grab one of your Blending Brushes and the color of ink you desire. I used Pebbled Path ink on Very Vanilla cardstock. You will use a circular motion to load your blending brush with ink, then start from the outside edge of the mask and go inward in the opposite circular motion to apply. Depending on how much pressure you apply to the blending brush your ink can be lightly applied or dark like my sample.

Repeat this process until you are happy with the look. Then carefully peel off the tape on the mask and gently lift the cardstock from the grid paper.

Now you are ready to build your masculine birthday card!

The Houndstooth pattern seemed masculine to me, so I used the Gone Fishing Stamp set and Let's Go Fishing Designer Series Paper (DSP) to design this Birthday Card.
Additional Products used were Mossy Meadow Cardstock and Ink, Very Vanilla cardstock, and retired from several years ago Mossy Meadow Braided Linen Trim. You can substitute whatever trim you have that looks good to you.

The Phrases for All stamp set provided the Happy Birthday greeting on the inner layer.
Decorate your envelope flap with matching DSP. Cut 2 1/4" x 6", adhere to exterior flap and trim off excess.

Close Up of the tag. The Mossy Meadow layer is 2 1/4" square. The DSP layer is 2 1/8" square. The greeting was stamped in Mossy Meadow ink from the Gone Fishing stamp set. The two layers were adhered together and raised up over the linen trim with dimensionals. The fish was fussy cut from the DSP and raised up on mini dimensionals.

Easy and Fun Thank You Card Using the Just My Type Stamp Set from Stampin' Up! You Will Want to Make a Bunch!

Today's post brings to a close my exploring and playing with Stampin' Up!s Just My Type set this last week. I hope you have enjoyed seeing the variety of easy and quick cards I've created for you. I hope these designs will motivate you to get this stamp set for your collection. If you add the Phrases for All stamp set too you will be set to make many cards for family and friends for all occasions.

I love to work with Black, White and one other color. Today it was Real Red. I love how this card came together. Just stamps, ink and paper. Easy peasy. Again this card is in Landscape mode with a left side fold. You just need to start with a Basic White card base 4 1/4" x 11", scored at 5 1/2" and reduce each layer by 1/8" on all four sides.

Notice how the Thank You tag has red edges? All you have to do is touch the each edge of the paper to the Real Red ink pad and this is the result. Just the right amount of color!

Color Palette:
Card base - Basic White
Layer 1 - Basic Black
Layer 2 - Real Red die cut with Spots & Dots Die
Thick Basic White pieces for typewriter and small tag stamped with Memento Ink and Real Red Ink
Inner Card Layer - Basic Black with Basic White layer on top with two stamped and fussy cut envelopes adhered inside for cuteness.

 Highlighted Products:
Just My Type Stamp Set
Phrases for All
Spots & Dots Die
Nested Essentials Dies for tag
Retired Classic Matte Dots embellishments
Paper Snips for fussy cutting the typewriter out.

Sneak peek inside the card. Won't your personal message look great in there?

Close up of card front with the typewriter, letter, tag, and little envelope. These items were stamped and fussy cut from Thick Basic White cardstock.

In the photo above the envelope flap looks brownish to my eyes, but in real life it is Basic Black with gray polka dots. This Designer Series Paper is very retired, but you can use what you think looks good.

Stampin' Up!s Just My Type and Phrases for All Stamp Sets Combine to Make an Encouraging Card for a Dear Friend

If you are looking for an easy card to make using only 2 stamp sets, 2 inks and 4 papers card, then this layout is for you! The landscape, side fold card really packs a punch of popping color, flying envelopes, and a typewriter whose letter is already started.

The longer saying on the card says, "sending hugs & love when words aren't enough." When I saw that saying I thought it could be used multiple ways. For example: Sympathy in the loss of a loved one, or a loved pet; receiving a shocking health diagnosis; home or car accident; a divorce; or a faraway move across the country. I am sure there are more possible reasons, but the best reason of all is to be kind to your friend who is going through a tough time in their life.

Can you imagine someone sitting down at an old fashioned typewriter and whipping out letter after letter to their friends and loved ones. I can, thus the flying envelopes all over the card front.

Color Palette:
Card base - Night of Navy
Layer 1 - Real Red
Layer 2 - Boho Blue
Layer 3 - Basic White pieces
Inner Card Layer - Basic White

Close up look at the fussy cut typewriter and sheet of paper coming out of it. Here's a hint for you, leave 1/2" of extra room on the bottom of the Basic White piece you'll use for the sheet of paper. By doing so you will be able to attach the two pieces together with adhesive and scotch tape for insurance. The dimensionals that you'll need to raise the typewriter will be so easy to apply when both pieces are connected together.

All the flying envelopes were also fussy cut out. It is so fun to arrange them how you'd like, but be sure a few edges hang off the designer paper so you can trim prior to mounting the DSP layer on the Real Red layer.

Inside Layer Peek - 6 Boho Blue stamped envelope images in a border effect. Lots of room left to write your personal message, which I'm sure your friend would appreciate.

It is a good idea to have a matching envelope, so another pattern from the Countryside Inn Designer Series paper works nicely on the exterior envelope flap.
