New Stamper?

New to Stamping and Paper Crafts?
Don't be afraid, we were all new papercrafters once!

I grew up being creative and doing a variety of crafts thanks to my wonderful mother who introduced me to many of her talents. Her motto was "Stay Busy!" So I did!
Whether you have been crafty all your life or not, don't worry, I am here to help you get started!
Of course to will need to start with Stamps, Ink and Paper, (SIP, we call it in the industry!) but what else do you need to get started? Here is a suggested list of what you'll need to purchase for stamping success.
1.   Begin with Black: You'll need the Memento Tuxedo Black ink pad and the ink refill After you get comfortable with stamping clean images with even pressure, then you will be ready to color your world. Stampin' Up! has four great ink color families (Regals, Brights, Subtles, and Neutrals.)
2.   Good adhesive: I highly recommend Stampin' Seal. It goes on dry, holds very well, and your fingers stay clean. This is the adhesive for when you are sticking cardstock to cardstock or paper to paper. For bigger stuff like attaching ribbon or bling, I use Mini Glue Dots or the Fine-Tip Glue Pen. But Stampin' Seal is a great basic.
3.   Add layers easily: One way to give your cards some texture and dimension is by using Stampin' Up's Dimensionals. The double-sided foam hexagons are simply the very best on the market, period. Your layers won't stick up too high so the Post Office machines destroy them. No one wants their pretty card all mangled! Don't even waste your money on any other brands.
4.   A Good pair of scissors: Stampin' Ups! Paper Snips are fabulous!  You only need to buy ONE pair of these scissors to get started,  however eventually  I bet you will have a pair for paper and a pair for fussy cutting, too!
5.   A Placemat that measures?  You bet! Sure, you can use other things to protect your table surface, but should you? No! Our  11 x 17 Floral Grid Paper with built-in rulers not only along the top, bottom and sides, but also a grid for sketching, a note pad, and wish list along the side... nothing will make you feel more professional as you measure ribbon and cut cardstock like a champ.
6.   You must properly crease folds. Don't make the rookie mistake of thinking that cardstock can just be folded in half will-nilly. It soon becomes obvious that anything more than a single sheet of bond paper can really benefit from being folded with the precise, even pressure of our Bone Folder. Stampin' Ups! is the best, so don't mess with the rest.
7.  Don't be a block head! Since Stampin' Up! only has red rubber cling stamps and photopolymer stamps you will need at least one acrylic stamp block to stick the stamps to. I recommend you start with Block D.
